Can beginners wake surf?

Yes! We have seen people with zero experience surfing pop up on their first try, and we've seen experienced surfers struggle. It can be challenging & frustrating, but we are there to help coach you and remind you of the goal - to have fun!

What about the weather?

We watch the forecast like a hawk to make sure your cruise will be fun and safe. In case of severe weather or other safety concerns, we will reschedule you at no additional cost.

Where are you located?

Salty Dog is centrally located in Highlands, NJ and conveniently accessible from Manhattan via Seastreak ferry. Our meeting spot will be at the Seafarer Marina.

What about cancellations?

We understand unexpected situations come up. If you need to cancel, please notify us at least 48hrs in advance to receive a full refund. Additionally, your charter will start at the scheduled time, so if you are late we are unable to extend the charter.

Can I bring my own gear?

Sure! Just let us know beforehand so we can make room on the boat.

What are the rates?

Will I get wet if I don't go in the water? How's the water?

Expect to be slightly splashed & salty from the wind, but you can stay pretty dry, even on the tube, if you want. The water is normally very warm & comfortable.

How do I pay?

You can pay with cash on the day of your charter. If you'd like to pay with card, we will send you an invoice to your email/mobile to complete the payment.

What are the age parameters?

We welcome passengers of all ages! We leave it to the parent to decide if their child can try swimming, tubing or watersports, as long as they wear a life vest.

How long do I need for a charter?

For first time wake surfers, we recommend booking at least 30 min per person. 
Example: If you have 6 people in your group, book for 3 hours (30 min per person). The price will be $200 each if you split the cost.

Do you have jet skis?

We do not have jet skis at Salty Dog (for now)!
